Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has praised his former club, Portsmouth after their FA Cup semi-final victory.
The Spurs boss has criticised the state of the much maligned Wembley pitch, but refused to use it as a scapegoat for his side's defeat.
"I'm not using it as an excuse, but how can you play on a pitch that you can't stand up on?" said Redknapp, according to the Haringey Independent.
However the Tottenham chief was quick to praise his former club for their performance at Wembley.
Redknapp added: "We had enough opportunites, but couldn't stick one away. The game was just as difficult as I thought it would be.
"People said before the match that we had got an easy game, but I knew it was never going to be an easy game. Full credit to Portsmouth. It's their day."
It was a bad day all round for Spurs as their chase for fourth place in the Premier League was also dealt a blow with Manchester City's convincing win over Birmingham City.
The result leaves Spurs four points behind City with their game in hand coming on Wednesday night, against Arsenal.
