Godoy Cruz denied

Godoy Cruz missed the chance to join Independiente at the top of Argentina's Clausura as they were held to a draw by Racing Club.

Independiente's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Gimnasia La Plata offered Omar Asad's side the chance to join them on 27 points at the top of the table - but a goalless draw at Racing Club means they are two points off the pace.

Godoy Cruz are joined on 25 points by Argentinos Juniors, who won 1-0 at Rosario Central thanks to Ismael Sosa's 58th-minute goal.

Estudiantes are fourth, a point behind, after victory by the same margin at Velez Sarsfield. Gaston Fernandez got the only goal of the game in the fourth minute but the visitors had to dig in after having Juan Veron sent off just past the half hour mark.

The misery continues for Boca Juniors, who slipped two places as a result of tonight's 3-0 setback at Colon Santa Fe and now lie one point off the bottom of the standings with 11 points from 13 games.

Esteban Fuertes gave Colon a 15th-minute lead and Facundo Bertoglio's goal on the stroke of half-time doubled the advantage.

Bertoglio then wrapped up the points six minutes into the second half, before a dismal night for the visitors was capped by Breyner Bonilla's dismissal a minute from time.
