Heurelho Gomes - 6.5 - The Brazilian was called into action early in the first half to deny Piquionne, but his saves owed more to the Pompey forward's poor shooting. Had little to deal with for the majority of the match and could do nothing about Piquionne's finish in extra time.
Vedran Corluka - 6 - Struggled to offer Bentley much support going forward, but spent most of his time trying to contain Pompey's quick forwards.
Michael Dawson - 6.5 - Was resolute in the air and dealt with Pompey's speed merchants admirably, if not with considerable discomfort. But slipped at a crucial time, allowing Piquionne in to score for Pompey.
Sebastien Bassong - 6 - Clearly did not enjoy coming up against the pace and athleticism of Piquionne and Dindane and had to be bailed out by Dawson more than once.
Gareth Bale - 7.5 - The Welshman offered more of an attacking threat than Modric, and constantly overlapped the Croatian, delivering some delicious crosses but the Spurs forwards couldn't convert.
David Bentley - 6 - Quiet game from the England hopeful who was muscled out of the game by Mullins. Spurs needed a performance from him on such an occasion, but he couldn't deliver.
Tom Huddlestone - 6 - Seemed more interested in stamping his authority on the Pompey midfielders and struggled to display the sort of acurate passing the Spurs faithful have come to expect.
Wilson Palacios - 5.5 - Very quiet game from Palacios, who was more used to pushing on at Wigan Athletic, but was required to play a relatively defensive role today. The game seemed to mostly pass him by. Conceded the penalty after tangling with Dindane.
Luka Modric - 6.5 - The impish Croatian used the ball well but rarely carved open the Pompey defence and as the game drifted on found himself less and less involved.
Peter Crouch - 6.5 - The former Pompey striker was limited to a handful of headers in normal time, but should have netted from Bentley's corner mid-way through the second half. In extra time the big man had a handful of chances but could not convert.
Jermain Defoe - 6 - The big stage seemed to get to the little Spurs forward, and he didn't have the sort of impact he would have hoped. A good chance spurned in the first half and Defoe was soon subbed for Pavlyuchenko.
Subs
Roman Pavlyuchenko - 6 - Stuggled to make an impact after replacing Defoe.
Niko Kranjcar - 6.5 - The Croatian looked far more capable of producing some magic than Bentley, but found a strong Pompey defence in his way.
Eidur Gudjohnsen - 6 - Offered little to a Spurs attack struggling to break down a stern Pompey defence.
PORTSMOUTH
David James - 7 - A few nervy moments early on, including a dropped cross, but made up for it with a stretching tip over the bar from a Huddlestone drive and a brilliant last-minute save from Crouch.
Steve Finnan - 6.5 - The experienced Irishman added some much needed coolness to the Pompey back-line and handled the threat of Bale and Modric well.
Ricardo Rocha - 8.5 - Rocha showed Spurs what he was capable of - after a disappointing time at White Hart Lane - with a very solid display at centre-back.
Aaron Mokoena - 7.5 - The midfielder slotted into defence and excelled alongside Rocha. One excellent block on Crouch in the second half kept his side in it - but the South African nearly scored an own goal with 20 minutes left.
Marc Wilson - 7 - Solid, if uninspiring, display from Wilson, who stuck his head, feet and anything else on offer where it hurts to keep his team in it.
Hayden Mullins - 7 - Asked to play in an unfamiliar left-back role, but handled his task admirably, keeping David Bentley quiet.
Michael Brown - 7 - Harried and hassled the Spurs midfield all game and forced errors that Piquionne and Dindane were able to pick up on.
Hassen Yebda - 5.5 - Was never really in the game, and handed posesssion to Spurs on numerous occasions. Yebda replaced the ineligible Jamie O'Hara in the starting line-up but Pompey would have much rather had the loanee playing.
Kevin Prince-Boateng - 6.5 - One of a host of players keen to impress against his former club on the day, the mercurial midfielder showed his quality in fits and spurts and thrashed one shot just over in the second half. Took his late, late penalty superbly to wrap up the tie.
Aruna Dindane - 7.5 - Endless running from the Ivorian, who was at the centre of all Pompey's chances, and clearly unsetled the Spurs defence. Storming run with five minutes left won Pompey a penalty which Kevin Prince-Boateng scored.
Frederic Piquionne - 6 - Had Pompey's best chances and should have worked Gomes harder with two shots in the first half. Linked up well with Dindane and the pair looked far more threatening than the Spurs' forward line. Took his goal well - a poacher's finish.
Subs
John Utaka - Had the legs to work a tired Spurs defence and relieve pressure on an overworked Pompey backline.
