Sir Alex Ferguson Rules Wayne Rooney Out Of Trip To Blackburn

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Wayne Rooney will not be a part of the squad which makes the short trip to Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.

The forward limped out of the second half of United's Champions League quarter final second leg tie against Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening after exacerbating the soft tissue damage in his ankle.

The injury is not expected to keep him out for any significant length of time though, and there are no other injury worries for United ahead of the game at Ewood Park.

"I don't think it's as serious as we said the first time, but I think he'll be ready for the City game," Ferguson told reporters at a press conference on Friday.

"We've got more time to work on it, anyway. Other than that everyone else is fit."
