Girondins de Bordeaux are no longer a principal candidate for the French title after losing 3-1 at Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.
Bordeaux, days after their elimination from the Champions League, needed a win at Parc des Princes in order to remain near the top of the Ligue 1.
But PSG dominated from the start with an opening goal from Sylvain Armand in the 35th minute. Mevlut Erdinç doubled the advantage in the 74th, but Bordeaux gave themselves some hope when Ludovic Sane pulled one back six minutes later.
But the Parisians had the final say as Guillaume Hoarau found the target for 3-1 in the 86th minute.
Bordeaux had been playing a large part of the match without Ulrich Rame, who was sent off in the 31st minute.
Not only is the title suddenly far away for Bordeaux, the team also drop to fifth place which means that a new Champions League adventure seems a lot less likely.
