Portsmouth Stars Will Be Allowed To Play FA Cup Final - Peter Storrie

Former Portsmouth Chief Executive Peter Storrie is sure deals can be made to allow players to star in the FA Cup final even though fresh payments will be due should they play more games.

Pompey claimed a shock extra time win over Tottenham Hotspur to reach the final of the world-famous competition for the second time in four years, but now face playing the final with some of their cup run heroes watching from the stands.

Signings such as Aruna Dindane carry clauses stipulating a further fee, payable when the player has made a fixed number of appearances for Portsmouth - in his case 20.

The south coast club's financial plight means administrators cannot approve any such payments, but Storrie is confident the clubs in question will allow their former players to walk out at Wembley once more.

"I think we'll be able to sort those things out," he told ITV Sport after the game. "I don't think there'll be issues on any of those."

"The major one was obviously Dindane, but he was cleared to play today and that was his 21st game.

"Myself and Aruna and his agent will go and speak to Lens... I'm sure they're not going to stop the boy playing in the FA Cup final.

"There are only one or two [for whom] it's cropped up."

Earlier the former club official, under whom Portsmouth were forced into administration with debts of £60 million, had dedicated Pompey's performance to the fans, and was visibly thrilled with the outcome.

Storrie said: "When you look at the back four we had out today, they were magnificent.

"You can't write the scripts, can you?

"This was for the fans, for everything that's gone on this season.

"It was an incredible performance," said Storrie of a tie that remained goalless at the end of normal time despite some frenetic action.

"For 90 minutes it was a fantastic 0-0... I thought we just edged it [in extra time].

"It's fantastic for the players and especially for the fans."
