Marseille have the opportunity to put the destiny of the Ligue 1 crown firmly in their own hands with victory at Sochaux on Wednesday night. OM have a game in hand on their title rivals, and three points at the Stade Auguste Bonal would see take Didier Deschamps' team five points clear of second-placed Auxerre and seven ahead of Lyon.
But the former France captain is refusing to take anything for granted, despite seeing his side extend their winning run to five matches, scoring 13 in the process, with yesterday's 4-1 defeat of Nice. He is concentrating on the remaining seven games of the season, beginning with Sochaux.
"It is a good place, but we have seven steps to go," said Deschamps. "There's satisfaction but no euphoria because we know we must do it again on Wednesday. Our trip to Sochaux is a bonus game in this race that is still tight despite everything."
After Sochaux, Marseille face Boulogne, Saint-Etienne, Auxerre, Rennes, Lille and Grenoble. "We ourselves will come up directly against Auxerre and Lille," said Deschamps.

Bordeaux's title hopes are slim following Saturday's 3-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, and Laurent Blanc's men will look to bounce back against Le Mans. Les Girondins, who have eight games left to play, are in fifth, six points behind Marseille, and have to turn the momentum in their favour after losing four of their last five matches in all competitions.
A repeat of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final with Lyon will take place on Saturday, before fixtures against Lorient, Valenciennes, Toulouse, Nice, Sochaux and Lens.
