Portsmouth manager Avram Grant has reiterated that his side should not have had nine points deducted for going into administration after their relegation from the Premier League was confirmed with West Ham United’s victory over Sunderland on Saturday.
Back in February Pompey had nine points taken away for being the first Premier League club in history to go into administration, a subtraction that left the struggling club a huge margin to make up in order to stave off relegation.
Grant, who replaced Paul Hart in the middle of the season, has expressed his frustration with their impending relegation and his empathy for all connected to Pompey.
"It is a sad day for the city of Portsmouth because they did not do anything wrong," Grant told Sky Sports News.
"It is a sad day also for the Premier League. It is the first time in history they did not give an equal chance to a team.
"I think it is the wrong decision because they should have given us an equal chance and then maybe we would be relegated and maybe not.
"I think the club need to go forward. We need to create some stability and I think the administrator is doing a good job in difficult circumstances."
